"Weathercom" wired voice intercom system
Duddon Electronics "Weathercom" systems have been used in offshore oil operations and cable laying, in the North Sea and worldwide, since the 1980s. Pocket stations with ear defender headsets are used for working on deck, while fixed stations with lightweight headsets, or loudspeakers, are used indoors.
All stations can speak and listen on the same circuit, allowing everyone to be kept informed. Individual microphones can be switched off by the user, or set to operate with an adjustable voice operated switch. A bleeper allows calling of operators who may have removed their headsets.
